DAVY FORCE! a.k.a DAVE FOSS
DAVE FOSS a.k.a. DAVY FORCE! has been making independent short digital films and videos since 1987, usually using not more than a computer to create his animation and video art. His range of styles varies greatly from the highly complex and detailed "grunge" photo-style CGI 3D ("47 hz") to a version of demented animated photograph warping style ("Horned Gramma") He is also the creator of the ANTI-MMERCIAL an underground version of remixed & reanimated commercials ("Hypno-Chicken 2000") Also notable are DAVY's live integration of interactive animation video and music in avant-garde performances (MVP with TV Sheriff and the Trailbuddies). DAVY's digital abilities are rounded out with his expertise in executing advanced CGI & compositing special effects as well as graphic design and typography animation for commercial televsion projects. DAVY is also an electronic musician and voice-artist, with his multiple voices appearing in his films and performances.
Currently DAVY has a studio apartment studio in Hollywood
, CA named FORCE!EXTREME ANTI-MATION. He also directs commercial
animations for CLASS~KEY CHEW~PO COMMERCIALS. His most recent
projects include directing the animated open to THE ANNA NICOLE SHOW on
E! (for which he was nominated for an EMMY
AWARD for best title sequence in 2003), as well as co-directing the
motion picture trailer/logo for the ARCLIGHT theatre chain. He received
a
BDA/PROMAX
GOLD Award in 2000 for directing/animating "ANIMAX: COASTER",
a television promo and his films have been screened at several festivals
including SPIKE & MIKE , RESFEST 1999 & 2000, CHICAGO UNDERGROUND
FILM FEST, The WORLD ANIMATION CELEBRATION, and the HOLLAND ANIMATION
FESTIVAL. DAVY received a BA in Film from Columbia College Chicago
in 1990 and then went on to teach computer animation for film/video at
Columbia from 1990-96.
